When The Good Words were beginning to find their feet, vocalist Nik Jarvie found hers standing on the same stage as two of her musical idols: Warren Maxwell and Lisa Tomlins. After an invitation from Maxwell to record at his studio The Good Words now have their debut EP – Shadow Play.
For one night only at BATS, the band will showcase its playful style, drawing you into the sorcery of their songwriting. Known for taking listeners on a journey, The Good Words created Shadow Play with magic in mind. Weaving through love letters, burning with curiosity, sharpening for revenge, daring to touch on the truth – these songs are stirring and satisfying at once.
The sound of The Good Words is expansive. They have taken the grit from funk, the shimmer of soul-jazz, the hooks of pop, and the energy of a rock band to create 21st Century Diva-Blues. With these ingredients The Good Words have stumbled on a sound that is all their own.
