BATS Theatre, Directors X 3

Nau mai, piki mai, haere mai! BATS Theatre, New Zealand’s leading developmental theatre, is part way through an exciting multi-year period of strategic development. We are seeking three board members to join the BATS Board of Directors before the end of the year.

The board plays an important role in shaping the development of the theatre and in upholding BATS’ position as a sector and community leader, and a vital part of the arts landscape in Aotearoa.

Who are we looking for?

We welcome applications from anyone with an understanding of the importance of live performance in our lives, and the availability to join a fun and active board.

Previous governance experience is desirable but it is not required – what’s more important is that the BATS board encompasses a diverse range of skillsets, experience and perspectives. With that in mind, we would be very excited to welcome new board members who would bring the following:

  • Arts or performance practice

  • Mātauranga Māori

  • Accounting and finance experience

  • Fundraising experience

Time commitment and benefits

Board meetings take place monthly from February to December, usually in the evenings at the theatre at 1 Kent Terrace, Wellington. Board members also attend occasional events like mihi whakatau, community events or strategy sessions.

Board members have access to complimentary tickets to all BATS shows and can claim travel expenses for meetings.
