'The Difference' Ticket
What a difference a year makes.
This time last year we were launching a big and bustling Fringe Festival. COVID 19 was a just whisper, something that wouldn’t happen to us. Little did we know that before the Fringe Festival was over we would be closing our doors because of it.
The time and reflection that lockdown and higher Alert Levels allowed/forced us to enact some of the changes that had been sitting on the precipice of.
At BATS we’re dubbing 2021 our “Year of the Artist”.
Our artists are an integral part to the success of BATS and also to the wider ecology of NZ Theatre. They’re putting in the mahi that feeds our wairua on the reg, yet many are unable to live sustainably.
We have been reflecting on the impact that we can have on our artists lives and we’ve come up with one super simple way you can help us help our artists. We’ve been hesitant to raise our ticket prices as we want theatre to be as accessible financially so our prices are remaining, BUT we will be offering a new ticket type called ‘The Difference’.
‘The Difference’ ticket type is for those who CAN afford more and WANT more money to go directly to our artists. At $40 per ticket ‘The Difference’ ticket does what it says it does - makes a bloody big difference to the sustainability of our artists careers.
This is just one of the changes we're making to contribute to the sustainability of our artists careers. Along with the Co-Pro Model, new staff appointments, the upcoming Digital Delivery Unit, Artist Residencies and more, we're hoping to make a difference too.
We have sooo many amazing shows coming up. Let's make a difference together whānau!
Book your tickets
Booking online is the way to go. Find the show you're after in the What's On section, hit the Book Now button and you’ll be taken to our booking system to select your tickets and enter your payment details.
Your tickets will be emailed out to you for printing. If you can’t print them out, no worries; just collect your tickets from the Box Office on the night.
If you have a question about the show, contact the Box Office. We can take bookings over the phone, you’ll just need your credit card handy. If you’d prefer to book in person the BATS Box Office is open from 5pm on show nights.
Walk-ups are welcome
If you haven't booked online you’re welcome to turn up at the Box Office on the night to try your luck as there’s often last minute space available. The Box Office opens at 5pm and tickets are sold right up until show time. Please note, the box office doesn't accept credit card payments.
Our concession prices are for students, seniors, and members of arts and community groups. If you can afford to pay full price, please do; the majority of your ticket purchase goes straight to the artists you see on stage. However, if you need a slightly cheaper ticket; go for it!
Concession prices for those on restricted incomes is one way we’re working to keep live performance affordable for everyone.
Bring along the whole gang! Our group prices are our most affordable ticket, and are available for groups of six or more.
If you’ve booked tickets online, but haven't been able to print them out - don’t worry! You’ll be able to collect tickets from the Box Office before the show, to hand to the usher on the theatre doors. We’re not set up to accept tickets shown on your phone just yet.
If a BATS show completely sells out and you’re desperate to see it, give us a call on 04 802 4175. While we can’t magic up extra seats in the theatre we can take your details and give you a call in case we get any advance cancellations.
