"Thinking can’t kill you, can it?"
Three flatmates. Two days. One bathroom - too many men.
Low Level Panic paints an intimate portrait of three young women navigating society. Written in the 80s, the play holds its own 30 years later and is more relevant than ever.
Existing as a woman often feels like non-consensual performance art: objectification, harassment, and double standards is, unfortunately, maintaining quite the shelf life.
Presented only with the framework of seeing women as objects, miserable, mute: the flatmates work to rebuild their own narratives of empowerment. Low Level Panic is a messy, raw and relatable coming of age story and it’s NZ Premier is presented at BATS Theatre February 2019.
The women’s relationships with their bodies, sex and each other are explored and tested as they fight against the only narrative they know.
For four days at BATS Theatre, we invite you to join in with untangling the stories that have been passed down from women to women, from generation to generation and start reclaiming, reimagining and reshaping your own.
