O+P Works presents BIGTIMECLOCKS, an interactive, immersive and durational live art event that playfully reinvents the world of work. Across dual platforms, both online and in person, BIGTIMECLOCKS challenges the modern world’s obsession of equating productivity with self worth, and attempts to rethink our relationship with time through the lens of surreal, immediate, performance art.
It’s a playground of administration. A race against the clock. A brand-new interactive, durational experience. BIGTIMECLOCKS, it’s about time.
On from 16-27 November at BATS Theatre as part of the STAB Commission 2021.
““We are designing BIGTIMECLOCKS with the audience at front of mind. In all of our work, we aim to give the audience the freedom to play, the space to bring their own perspective and the permission to curate their own experience.””
The STAB commission has a legacy of producing boundary-pushing shows such as Live at Six and Apollo 13: Mission Control, extending the possibility of art forms and BATS has launched the careers of some of Aotearoa’s best creatives such as Taika Waititi, Flight of the Conchords, and Fly My Pretties. BIGTIMECLOCKS will continue this legacy, looking at new ways of shaping performance through an interactive mailing list, investigating financial accessibility through a “pay what you can” scheme and free tickets, allowing participants to come and go throughout the duration of that evening’s show, and delivering the show online and in person.
BIGTIMECLOCKS producer, Todd Waters, says “trying to make shows as accessible as possible is something I am super passionate about. One of the main barriers to people going to art events is cost - so to be able to explore offering tickets as low as $5 or for free is really exciting!”
