STABLabs 2022
STAB originated in 1995 from BATS Theatre’s desire to initiate a commission that allowed theatre artists to experiment in and push the boundaries of what live art can be. Historically STAB has consisted of one major STAB production per year. Since 2013 we have also offered the opportunity of STABlabs; smaller commissions towards the development of an idea. For 2022 we were seeking to meet the needs of our artists in the current climate. We thought, how can we best utilise these funds to make art making sustainable and co-create art that needs to be, and can be, made NOW? In response to the 2022 STAB callout, we have decided not to commission a major production! Instead, we have given the green light to multiple STABLabs!!
STABlab is a workshop model designed to give a smaller financial resource to practitioners who wish to test out their thinking in a supportive environment.
