Flight Test: Student Works in Development

One night, one kaupapa, one ticket, two shows! Flight Test is a night of works in development comprised of mahi from arts students across Pōneke. Join us for a one-night-only sneak peek of up and coming works from some of Pōneke’s emerging artists. All proceeds from tickets will go towards Toi Whakaari’s ‘Growing Waewae’ committee, in support of their third year industry trip to Tāmaki.
6:15pm: Herana A short play in development created by first year students at Toi Whakaari. Set in 2080 the effects of nuclear war have left Aotearoa a desolate landscape. Most of the upper class population have turned to HAVEN, where humans can be put into cryo sleep, logged into a digital reality and live in hedonistic comfort, free from the binds of nature's decline. Living on the earth and in the human body has become an attribute of lower-class status. Two brothers, Frank and Charlie, leave their home in the countryside in pursuit of a change. Is HAVEN the way out? Or is the earth still worth connecting with?
7:20pm: Flight Test A series of short works from students across VUW and Toi Whakaari. Featuring poetry, original music, absurdist performance, and more.
