I Know You, Fish makes strong use of physical comedy, clowning, Epic theatre, and poetic language directed at the audience as an intentionally performative metaphor for the honest, relatable content beneath.
“Every time I draw a clean breath, I'm like a fish out of water.”
As the audience watches the absurd vignettes on stage, part reality, part delusion, we see the fish come to terms with what brought her to this place of addiction.
The artist is making this work to share the complexities that lead a fish to fish flakes, including, but not limited to, trauma, capitalism, mental illness, and being a fish out of water.
