INPATIENT or How I Spent My Summer Vacation
written/directed/performed by sarah andrews reynolds
Sarah Andrews Reynolds will premiere her one-woman show, I N P A T I E N T or How I Spent My Summer Vacation at Wellington's iconic BATS Theatre.
Set in a psychiatric hospital, it explores the lives and mental health struggles of 12 patients through the eyes of the author.
In I N P A T I E N T..., Reynolds draws on her own experiences of six hospitalizations to offer a compelling and insightful look into mental health challenges and the people who have them.
The play presents those with illnesses such as Schizophrenia, Borderline Personality Disorder, and Depression as the who they really are: people whose diagnoses do not define them.
I N P A T I E N T... is a moving, sometimes disturbing, and surprisingly funny production that showcases Sarah's exceptional versatility.
Don't miss the opportunity to witness this groundbreaking performance as Sarah Andrews Reynolds takes on multiple roles, seamlessly transitioning between characters and capturing the essence of their individual stories.
The show's world premiere at BATS Theatre promises to be an unforgettable experience for all who attend.
Creative Team
Sarah Andrews Reynolds is an actress, singer, and writer with more than 35 years of experience on the stage in the US, UK, and New Zealand. She's spent most of her career in national touring companies bringing Shakespeare, the classics, and a variety of children's theatre to places that might otherwise never see it, like Native American Indian Reservations, inner-city schools, and rural and remote communities. One of her favorite things was conducting Shakespearean workshops in schools, showing younger people its vibrancy and immediacy; seeing them realize its parallels to their own lives, opening up a whole new world for them, remains the thing she's most proud of in her life.
A renowned dog lover, she would stop even Vladimir Putin on the street to kiss his dog.
