Matenui

Presented By Mitch Tawhi-Thomas

A troubled woman arrives to stay at her sister's house for support but tensions burst when she clashes with her overbearing brother-in-law.

Matenui is a kitchen sink drama set in 1977 Aotearoa that seethes and explodes like a domestic opera, up against a backdrop of one of the most turbulent times in our country's history.

Written, directed, designed and performed by Toi Whakaari students past and present, Matenui is part of the 2022 Toi Whakaari Double Bill Season showcasing emerging Aotearoa talent and bold stories with purpose.
