Shakedown Aotearoa

A collaboration between St Oran's College, Wellington Girls' College, St Mary's College, Wellington College and Mel Dodge

A collaboration of voices shaking up Shakespeare. Inspired by the themes of Twelfth Night, rangatahi from four Wellington Colleges unite to create a new work exploring mental health, gender, relationships and shipwrecks. ‘I am not what I am.’ What we present to the world might not be who we are underneath.

I am not what I am
William Shakespeare, Twelfth Night

With the support of the Ministry of Education Creatives in Schools Project, Mel Dodge and Deb McGuire have worked across all schools to create this new work with the young theatre-makers of tomorrow.

Co-collaborators Helen Jones, Katie Howes, Jane Armstrong, Alexandra McKellar, Jessie Cooper and Emma Young have supported students to devise scenes which speak to their experience as a young person in Aotearoa today.
