The King in Yellow
Written by Simon Burgess
Desperate to break out of a critical and creative slump, director Thomas Wilde undertakes the first ever production of strange and enigmatic play The King In Yellow.
But some strange, supernatural force begins to corrupt those working on it, amplifying parts of their personality and drawing them into an obsession with the play.
Only lead performer Amber seems to recognise how the company is descending into madness, but can she break free of the play’s hold long enough to bring the curtain down?
A new, original play, written by Simon Burgess and based on Robert W. Chambers 1895 short story collection of the same name, The King In Yellow will be performed as a play reading as part of Te Herenga Waka’s Six Degrees Festival.
