Post Modern Jukebox are a group that samples modern songs and puts an old school twist on them! Their style suits creator Mila Te Whare-Manson perfectly.
She was heavily inspired by jazz clubs, underground speak-easys and movies like Chicago and Burlesque.
This idea came to her while sitting on a bus in the summer of 2023 while listening to the burlesque soundtrack, and she ended up curating a small 10 minute piece for an assessment at her time at Te Auaha. She has been developing and refining the show since.
Now graduated, she is finding her spark for creating and making opportunities for herself and her friends and wants to debut her own piece of work this year! Although her original idea was plot heavy, this new and improved version has been revamped for a more refined storyline that still brings the drama, romance and scandalous stories of the club.
