Wedding Bazaar
Written by Dylan Matthew Prasad Menon
What started off as a 15-minute first year solo and is now a 45 minute long solo show, Wedding Bazaar has made its way out into the big world of BATS! Set in Malaysia, Wedding Bazaar is a story of friendship, crushes and insane emotions.
This story focuses on the friendship of three boys, Nazrin, Pandey and the protagonist Boy. Nazrin has gotten married and it is at his wedding reception where his two best friends decide to pursue their love interests in the atmosphere of marriage. With a lot of aunties and uncles, pastors and fathers, physically in the way, will Nazrin be able to celebrate a happy marriage or will it be ruined by his two best friends? Will Boy and Pandey be able to secure their own love futures or will it just be another case of the boys dragging each other out?
The show consists of 4 characters, all of whom will be played by Dylan himself! So come one come all, to the wedding reception of the year!
Dylan Matthew Prasad Menon a.k.a the Panda is a graduate of Toi Whakaari: NZ Drama School. He is an international student from Malaysia and this will be his first show out of drama school! After graduating last year, he has been a part of film crews, producing work for Proudly Asian Theatre here in Wellington and now he is putting his writing, directing and acting skills to the test in this one man show. Graciously helped and accompanied by his tech magician Alex Dickson, the pair will be bringing this show to you for a 5-day season at BATS.
This is a family friendly show as there is no swearing which was in itself a huge mission for the Panda. With his aim of trying to resonate with audiences of all different ages and all BIPOC backgrounds, Dylan hopes to see many of you there!
