Windswept Poetry Slam
Produced by Motif Poetry
This is a free event
It's 2022. The world is...well, there is plenty to write poetry about! So we are BACK with the first of 2 QUALIFYING SLAMS for the Wellington Regionals in October. That's right folks, just two chances to grab one of six spots. You in?
Koha entry - 14+
To register as a slammer, please email [email protected]
Poets! Slamming details below. Poetry lovers, come along and support! All welcome. We've got social distancing in place to keep you safe.
Poets. You know you want to slam. So sign up using this email [email protected] - get in quick there are only 8 spots. Make sure you arrive before the slam starts because the order is drawn at random because fairness. (come at like 5:45pm guys, don't be that person!)
This is a 2 round slam with no knockouts so bring 2 poems (max 3 min each).
- Do bring poems that YOU have written
- Do feel free to read them from a phone or paper
- Don't use props or costumes
- Don't use backing music or dancers
- Don't be a dick. Hate speech isn't cool, let's spread love.
The top three poets from each slam will go through to the Wellington Regional Final at the National Library of New Zealand at the end of October. (2nd qualifying slam Sunday July 17th). Although poems are scored, no one cares about those silly number things anyway. It's all just an elaborate excuse to share more poetry.
And if competitive slams aren't your jam, don't worry we got your back. We will be holding 2 'just for fun' slams later in the year. More info to come...
Windswept Slams are supported by the Wellington Creative Community Scheme. Cheers guys!
