Evangelina Telfar

Evangelina Telfar (They/ She) is a playwright and co-producer for Potentially Playing Productions that has been involved in the theatre scene of Te-Whanganui-a-tara for over ten years both on and off stage. They completed their Masters in Scriptwriting through the International Institute of Modern Letters in 2021, with Ken Duncum and received an exit Scholarship for her thesis, Ground. Ground had a play reading at Circa Theatre as part of the Wellington Fringe Festival 2025. Evangelina’s staged plays include Surgery in Mind, Biased Beyond Belief, Binge & Chill, Celestial Nobodies, Naturally Curious and Compromise. Evangelina’s production company, Potentially Playing Productions, won the award for “Most Original Concept” and was nominated for “Best Design” for Nelson Fringe 2020. Celestial Nobodies has been performed twice at BATS Theatre and was shortlisted for Playmarket’s Plays for the Young Award 2022. Evangelina’s most ambitious production so far has been a two week season of their award nominated show, Naturally Curious at BATS Theatre with the support of CNZ funding, Wellington City Council and Performing Arts Foundation. Most recently, their collaborative playwriting show, Compromise, was nominated for the “Spectacular Organised Chaos Award” at the Wellington Fringe Festival 2025. They are currently producing Tolerance for the NZ Fringe 2026.
