Stevie Hancox-Monk

Stevie Hancox-Monk (they/them) is a trans nonbinary theatre practitioner based in Te Whanganui-a-Tara, Aotearoa. They are most known for their performance in The Griegol (Production of the Year 2022, Wellington Theatre Awards), which has toured across Aotearoa and to the United States.
Stevie is also a voice artist, most notably for drag artist Hugo Grrrl’s The Glitter Garden (Production of the Year 2021, WTA), and can be heard on Radio New Zealand’s Page Numbers (Ahonen), and The Reading (The Girl Who Shaved the Moose; Lady Birds).
Stevie has toured internationally, performing with the Prague Shakespeare Company in 2017 and going to the United States with The Griegol in 2023. They’re a founding member of improvisation troupe Tiny Dog, who perform improvised comedy regularly in Te Whanganui-a-Tara and were nominated for Best Improv Group at the NZ Comedy Guild Awards, 2023.

Samuel Phillips); and Wake Up Tomorrow (dir. Isobel MacKinnon; Best in Fringe 2015). Stevie has worked with a number of internationally renowned practitioners, including Lisa Wolpe (A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Divadlo Na Prádle, Czech Republic), Ben Crystal and David Crystal on performing Shakespeare with Original Pronunciation, and trained in clown with Mumbai’s Rupesh Tillu (Clowns Without Borders).
